CAMPAIGNS
Every year, Common Good runs a variety of campaigns to mobilize ALL Common Grounders across ALL congregations to action.

WARM UP WINTER

Dates: 20 May - 19 June 2013

WHAT:

This winter, when thousands of people are affected by the cold, we are calling Common Grounders to give what counts: good quality clothing, blankets and your presence! We’re asking you as a small group or individual to collect, sort and drop off clear plastic bags of clothes and blankets at a Common Good partner organisation of your choice.

We’re also encouraging all Common Grounders to recognize and give clothing to those in need who cross your path every day.

WHY:

God calls us to share our possessions because they are a gift. After all, we are merely stewards of our stuff, not owners. More importantly, God calls us to connect and build relationships with people in need.

We desire to see a growing number of Common Grounders make connections with the partners we are giving to. Last year we had 3 big sorts at central venues and whilst they were amazing events, no one connected with the teams of people who use the clothing in ways that bring change to people’s lives.  Our prayer is that by dropping off your good quality clothing and blankets at the partners, more connections and relationships are built as a result.

HOW:

Before 5 June- Pray and see if there are any people in your immediate path who have needs you can meet. Then choose a partner organisation to bless.

5 June- Bring your good quality clothing that has been washed and ironed to small group in the clear plastic bag given out on Sunday. Sort through the clothes and decide who will drop the clothes off at the partner organisation(s) you've chosen.

6-19 June- Arrange a visit to the partner organisation(s) you choose and drop off your clothes and blankets. (See below for available times)

*Note: If you're not in a small group, sort through your clothing with your family or housemates and choose a partner to deliver to!
