Below is a summary of the multiple ways that you can get involved ONSITE in Observatory:

CV writing & typing | This is Day 7 of the 12-day Job Readiness Course. Volunteers assist graduates as they finish compiling their CVs and type them on the computer. | Various Thursdays | 1-4pm |
Mock Interviews | This is Day 8 of the 12-day Job Readiness Course. Volunteers assists graduates as they put into practice the interview skills they’ve learnt. This will happen in small groups of about 4 or 5 graduates per volunteer. Each graduate will get a chance to be interviewed by you while the group watches. This is a group learning experience. | Various Fridays | 10-1pm |
Applying for jobs online | This is Day 10 of the 12-day Job Readiness Course. Volunteers assist graduates as they apply for jobs online. | Various Wednesdays | 10-1pm |
Graduations | Help us celebrate our graduates by treating them to a fun and celebratory graduation ceremony and tea. | Various Fridays | 12:30-3pm |
The Job Search | Assist graduates in the Resource Centre as they apply for jobs online | Weekdays | 10-1pm or 1-4pm |
Lunch | Make sandwiches for lunch during Job Readiness course (all ingredients supplied) | Tuesdays – Fridays | 11-12pm |
Hospitality Workshop | A 3-month course that meets twice a week. Every 2nd Friday volunteers assist the students in their practical workshops | Various Fridays | 10-2pm |
Computer Workshop | A 6-week course that meets twice a week. Volunteers help students gain confidence and competence in MS Word and Excel | Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9-12pm |
Industry Information days | These days focus on a specific industry and provide an opportunity for TZN graduates to get more information and apply for jobs. Volunteers assist students to update their CVs and apply for jobs | Last Thursday of the month | 9:30-12:30pm |
Graduate events | These occur 3 times a year. Volunteers can assist with registration and minor catering as well as helping with the logistics and smooth running of the event. | Saturday | 9-4pm |
Counselling | Provide counselling for graduates who request extra support. Volunteers need to be registered Social Workers or Counsellors. | Tuesdays – Fridays | By arrangement only |
